Criminal Justice

B.S.

At this time, there is a high demand for professionals who can respond effectively to issues of crime and justice. Our intent is to provide our students with a challenging and exciting course of study that will help our graduates become the best in their fields. Graduates in Criminal Justice will have an understanding of the causes and contexts of crime and the interrelated challenges faced and caused by criminal justice systems.

Economics

B.A.

Economics is the social science that studies decision making given limited resources. The undergraduate major is designed to instruct students in the basic tools of economic theory and statistical methods, and to teach students how to use these tools to think critically about both current and historical economic issues.

Education - ESL and Bilingual Urban Education

B.A.

This degree program and P-12 certification allows teachers to instruct in dual languages, which is a high priority for urban schools and the state of New Jersey. The Department of Urban Education develops and mentors students as they become justice-oriented educators who practice culturally relevant teaching and linguistic equity. This is the only department in the state of New Jersey, and one of a few nation-wide, to offer an undergraduate major in ESL and Bilingual Urban Education.

Education - Urban Secondary Education

B.A.

The Urban Secondary Education major is rooted in justice-oriented pedagogy and positions future teachers to address the needs of all students as well as significantly increase their own professional employability. Graduates of our program are highly sought after by recruiters in our partner school districts because of their preparation, diversity, and familiarity with the challenges and strengths of our urban school communities.  

English

B.A.

Rutgers University-Newark boasts one of the country's most respected English Departments, with an internationally respected faculty devoted to research and teaching in a wide range of subjects. Students with interest in literature and writing can study English and American literature, exploring within specialized periods such as the Renaissance or the 19th Century or concentrate on genre courses in fiction, poetry, or drama, or single author courses such as Shakespeare, Milton, and Joyce.

Environmental Science

B.S.

The major in Environmental Science is an interdisciplinary program among the departments of Geology, Biology, and Chemistry and offered jointly with NJIT. The goal of the program is to give students a well-rounded background in science as it relates to the environment. The program is designed either to prepare graduates for technical positions in the environmental industry or to allow them to continue their education in graduate studies.

Finance - Financial Management & Capital Markets

The Finance sector is comprised of establishments primarily engaged in financial transactions, which involve the creation, liquidation, or change in ownership of financial assets. Almost every firm, government agency, and other type of organization employ one or more financial managers. Working in offices often close to top managers and with departments that develop the financial data those managers need, financial managers typically have direct access to state-of-the-art computer systems and information services. Our finance graduates secure careers ranging from managing finances for startups to working in the biggest, most prestigious financial firms on Wall Street. Students will pursue one of two tracks: Financial Management & Capital Markets OR Real Estate.
